SHADE provided by all the trees around the large garden of Andre and Bridget Pike at Waterbridge House on Morchard Road provided welcome spots for people to sit and enjoy their generous cream teas.
The afternoon was organised by the Crediton Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) Fundraising Group whose chairman, Nick Cordwent was stewarding the car park with Andy Wills.
The cream tea raised more than £2,500 to help the charity that gives vital support to patients with blood cancers and serious blood disorders who go to the Haematology Centre at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital
Andy Jordan (ELF County Fundraiser) said that this was the fifth largest cancer in the UK.
Among ways monies raised are used to help people who have received a life-changing diagnosis is that £17 funds one hour of aromatherapy treatments for patients on Yarty Ward, £50 can pay for expert financial advice at a time when lives have been turned upside down or £120 can pay for one of the ELF vehicles for a day to be able to transport patients to and from appointments.
There were at least nine different stalls dotted around the garden and as well as the cream teas served from the kitchen and Andre ran a barbecue.
Copplestone Community Choir delighted their listeners, there was a silent auction plus plenty of space to wander and enjoy.
