SANDFORD Beaver and Cub sessions have been unable to run this term because of a lack of leaders.
One of the special Scout Leaders is also finishing so the Scout Sessions are under threat of closure too!
The Beavers core age is six to eight years, the Cubs is eight to 10½ with the Scouts going through until 14 years of age.
The Sandford Scout Hut will potentially be empty of children next term, which will be very sad for the Sandford area.
The Scouts recently visited the Department of Archaeology at Exeter University and had a fascinating, informative and memorable time with the Exeter University Archaeologists.
A spokesperson for the Scouts said: “To have this hands-on experience in this environment was amazing and is what Scouts, Cubs and Beavers is all about.
“The other Scout sessions for the rest of the term, include First Aid, Night Navigation and lastly a Christmas preparation session in the Scout Hut - which will be chaotic!
“Thank you to the Sandford Scout Leaders for giving the children such a varied and fun itinerary.
“The First Sandford Scout Group is totally struggling with no adults coming forward to run the sections.
“It has been giving children lots of fun and fantastic experiences for many years and the current situation is very difficult.
“The children are missing out on so much.”
More than 40 children are involved weekly when all the sections are up-and-running and need input from local adults in order to keep Scouting on track in the community.
New leaders will need to do some straightforward online modular training plus a first aid course and a DBS will be needed.
New leaders will receive plenty of support and guidance from experienced leaders, the Sandford Scout Executive and the Mid Devon District.
The children are missing out on so many exciting experiences. If you can help or know anyone who can, please email: [email protected] .
The Sandford Scouts, Cubs and Beavers would like to wish everyone, a very Happy Christmas and thank everyone for their support, over many years, at fundraising events.
