CREDITON Library will host a new concert from award-winning folk singer and songwriter Jim Causley and folklore author Mark Norman, on Friday, September 15, from 7.30pm to 10pm.
Jim has recently released a new CD called “Songs of Dartmoor” and Mark’s book “The Folklore of Devon” was published by University of Exeter Press in June.
During the show, you will hear the truth behind some of the more popular Dartmoor myths, as well as hearing some stories that are much more unusual and you may not know.
These are interspersed with songs from Jim’s repertoire, some of which are newly written for the album.
The event has been organised by the Folklore Library and Archive, a registered charity based in Devon which is home to the Devonshire Folklore Collection.
The charity’s patron is Michael Rosen and you can visit its collections by appointment at Crediton Library, where some of them are housed.
The Friends of Crediton Library will be on-hand to supply refreshments, the proceeds of which will go to Crediton Library.
You will be able to buy books and CDs from the performers on the night too.
Tickets are £10 per person for the two-hour show and are strictly limited, so early booking is advised to avoid disappointment.
You can book seats in person by visiting Crediton Library, or buy online via Eventbrite at: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/692269656177 .
