AS part of their English lessons at Landscore Primary School, children in year three and four have had some wonderful responses to letters they wrote to a variety of different companies.

These companies included: Frobishers juices, LUSH soaps, Crediton Town Council, Lego, Adidas, Nintendo and Exeter City Football Club.

The children have been learning to write formal, persuasive letters and their teachers decided that in order to give them a real purpose, they would send them in the post and await a response. The children were asked to write to companies whose products they enjoyed using, to encourage them as well as giving them some suggestions for products they could develop. They wrote to Crediton Town Council to try to persuade them to install water fountains to discourage people from buying single use plastic bottles or to at least have a place to refill them for free.

Many children have received encouragement from the letters they have received back but a few have been extra special including receiving a personally delivered letter from the Mayor of Crediton, Frank Letch, promising the children their water fountain idea would be discussed at the next full town council meeting.

Other responses included representatives from Frobishers going to Landscore to give out some free goodies to all the children who wrote as well as free drinks for the rest of the children too.

LUSH soaps responded to the children’s encouragements and ideas by sending a huge box of bath bombs for them to share as a way of thanking them.
