CHERITON Fitzpaine Primary School held its “School Force” day on Saturday, April 20.

More than 50 members of the school community came together to work on building an outside classroom and learning environment.

“Jobs included clearing back nettles and brambles from the secret trail to Story Mountain, clearing and rebuilding veg beds, creating a fire pit, laying turf on the new amphitheatre seating, moving a shed from within the village and the construction of a huge outdoor classroom structure,” a spokesperson said.

“The space is already being enjoyed by the children in their weekly outdoor learning sessions.

“Classes are making plans to take their learning across the curriculum outside whenever they can!”

The school has expressed its thanks to the local community, especially Morrisons, Tesco, A and S Paving, All Timber Frames, Repson Timber, Jack French and Steve Halson for their “very generous” donations of supplies and refreshments.
