MID Devon District Council, working in partnership with Crediton Town Council and Devon County Council, is seeking views from the public on a Crediton Town Centre Masterplan and Delivery Plan.
The Town Centre Masterplan seeks to identify a range of projects to enhance the town centre over the coming years.
It will build upon the existing foundations set out in the adopted Mid Devon Local Plan and the Crediton Neighbourhood Plan.
The topics that the Masterplan will cover include:
• Local Traffic and Parking
• Walking and Cycling
• Public Realm and Green Spaces
• Community Infrastructure
• Development Opportunities
• Legibility and Wayfinding
• Adaption and resilience to Climate Change.
The councils say that the aim of this masterplan is to provide a clear strategy, ensuring that Crediton town centre meets its full potential as an attractive, vibrant, and sustainable place with a strong economic function, now and into the future.
Mid Devon District Councillor Steve Keable, Cabinet Member for Planning and Development said: “This initial consultation provides a great opportunity for interested individuals, groups and organisations to make their comments known.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for the public to raise the key issues they wish the plan to address and to influence how the future of Crediton will look. We are in listening mode.”
Comments will be used to help shape the masterplan strategies over the next few months and a second public consultation event is due to be held in September, when the draft masterplan will be presented and consulted upon.
The consultation in September will include staffed events with information material being displayed at various points within the town. More information regarding the September consultation will be available in due course.
The Crediton Town Centre Masterplan is due to be complete by the end of 2023.
