VALERIE Pennington, President, welcomed members to the October Meeting of Colebrooke Women’s Institute, which was held at Colebrooke Parish Hall.

A minute’s silence was held at the beginning of our Meeting in memory of Miriam Burrow, a longstanding member, who had passed away on September 27.

Members have had a busy few weeks. For the Flower Festival at Colebrooke Church, which ran from September 27 to 29, members created a display with the theme of “Food”.

For our October Meeting we had an Indonesian evening where we were able to taste some Indonesian Food.

Members also attended the Red Earth Group Meeting, which was hosted by North Tawton Women’s Institute, on October 21.

The speaker at this meeting was Victoria Graham from BBC Spotlight who spoke to us about her life and how she came to be the News Presenter on Spotlight.

The competition was for a “3D Tableau of Fireworks”, which we won. It was a very good evening.

Our next meeting will be on November 12 at Colebrooke Parish Hall at 7.30pm when Jenny Cereda will be speaking to us about Jewellery Making.

For further information, or if you would be interested in coming to any of our meetings, please contact Andrea Armstrong on 01363 84198.
