COLDRIDGE Gardening Club has cancelled the Flower and Produce Show it intended to hold on Saturday, September 9, due to a lack of entries.
John Smith explained: "We simply did not receive sufficient entries in time to guarantee a successful Show.
"The unseasonal and unhelpful weather during July and August has left most of us with very little garden produce worthy of exhibition. Most gardeners are telling us that their crops have either finished a few weeks ago, are not yet ready or are of less than suitable quality.
"The committee is very sorry that we have had to make this decision and we really thank those of you who did find something to enter with. We hope for better growing conditions next time."
The Club will instead hold an ordinary, open meeting (possibly including a Quiz) on Monday, September 18, at 7.30pm in Coldridge Village Hall.
It will also hold its popular Bangers and Mash Lunch on Saturday, October 7 in the Hall, from 12 noon to 2pm.
