THE Crediton branch of a Christian charity is set to host a 12-hour walk around the Town Square to raise money for its work with local schools.

Connect, which operates in Chulmleigh, Holsworthy, Okehampton and at Queen Elizabeth’s School in Crediton, will take on the challenge collectively between 8am and 8pm on Saturday, June 29.

All are welcome to join in, even for a single lap of the square.

“The Crediton Connect team, plus friends, supporters and the occasional passer-by, will be attempting to walk non-stop for 12 hours,” a spokesperson said.

“And because it felt like a good idea at the time, we’re going to be doing it by walking laps of the Town Square, so that everyone else can see what’s going on.

“And who knows, if they watch us long enough, they might even start praying for us.

“If you’re a Crediton local, or if you fancy making the journey over from further afield, we’d love to see you there.

“You can come and join in with the walking, sponsor us, pray for us, or even bring sustenance with you (anything involving chocolate tends to go down well).

“And if you know of any keen walkers (or joggers), they’re welcome to come and help us rack up a few more miles too – the more the merrier!”

Connect raised £1,000 last year for its work by doing a sponsored 12-hour bike ride on three static cycles in the Town Square.
