WELL, how do we follow the Big Birthday Bash of Cheriton Fitzpaine Garden Club? Hopefully, the younger members of the club will already be planning the Centenary Celebration!
Club members would like to thank Liz Rogers for allowing us to hold our Summer Social in Poughill. The weather was kind, and we enjoyed a pleasant, stress-free evening eating and talking and admiring the beautiful garden and fantastic views.
Our annual outing this year will be to Holcome Court (a private garden) on the Somerset/Devon border on Thursday, July 21, with arrival at the garden at 10.30am. The cost will be £5, including an introductory talk by the owner.
Afterwards there is a local pub where we can get lunch. If you have not already put your name (or the names of your friends) down, please contact the organisers, Terry and Marion Codner, by email: [email protected] .
Plans are already being made for a float in the Cheriton Carnival. The team is being led by Hannah Frost, so all offers of help to her please. Brave girl, Hannah!
Our next big event is the Summer Show on Saturday, August 13 in and around the Parish Hall starting at 2.30 p.m.
Please note, there will be a workshop for children and young (or older) people on Thursday, August 11 at 2pm in the Methodist Hall. You will need to take some foliage and flowers, but we will provide other equipment.
Subjects: Children eight to 11 years: “Winnie the Pooh - written 1926 12”; Young people 12 to 16: “Walt Disney Animations 9” - both classes to use flowers and foliage.
The Open Class for members and non-members: “Kontiki - 1947 using hedgerow/field material in a vase (ie no oasis) 9”.
