A “SOUP and Puds” Christmas event held in Cheriton Fitzpaine Parish Hall has raised £1,620 for charity Save the Children.
Organised by Jenny and Jonathon Berg and supported by many friends, the event was, as always, very well supported with several craft stalls, bric-a-brac and cakes.
The Brownies, under the supervision of Tawny Owl Linda Tonkin, ran various guessing games, and there were also independent traders.
Separately, Cheriton Fitzpaine Garden Club's November meeting took the form of a wreath-making evening.
Members were supplemented by other local ladies and gentlemen. Wine, soft drinks, tea and coffee, were served by Treasurer Stuart Mason.
The event was organised by Lynn Porter, supported by other members.
This type of evening requires a great deal of work, not least collecting huge "dumty" bags with ivy, holly and other greenery.
Chairman, Andrew Dean, demonstrated the method, and was much in demand for "individual" tuition! At the end of the evening, the hall was full of wreaths and looked very colourful.
