CREDITON and District Lions Club will be hosting a “fire walk” in the Town Square this autumn.

The event will take place on Saturday, October 5 from 7pm to 9pm.

You can enter to take part yourself or sponsor someone brave enough to walk over the hot coals.

Participants must be aged 14 or over and undergo training beforehand led by world-record fire-walker Scott Bell from 5.30pm.

Money raised will go towards the Lions Club’s charity fund.

“Crediton Lions Club is challenging you to bring your mind and body together with a walk on fire on October 5,” a spokesperson said.

“Get ready to challenge your limits and conquer your fears as you walk across a bed of hot coals.

“This thrilling experience is not far off and Crediton Lions Club thank you in advance for your support in helping fund our core challenges.

“The Ship Hotel is providing facilities for the training seminar, Ashtons Tea Rooms will be open serving delicious hot drinks and snacks and the Three Little Pigs will be serving hot food as well.

“We are hoping that other entertainment will be available, so get your friends and relations to come and support this major Lions fundraiser.

“Spaces are limited to approximately 60 participants, so hurry and register now... and start gaining your sponsorship as soon as you can, ideally a minimum of £125.

“It is going to be a fun family-friendly evening and we can’t wait to see you all there for some fiery fun.”

Within a few days you should receive your volunteer pack of information.

If you have any difficulty registering, you can book directly by emailing Crediton Lions Club [email protected] with subject “fire walk” and your name, or by telephoning 01363 773437.

Certificates will be provided on completion of the walk.

Special t-shirts are also available at a cost of £10 but can be obtained free of charge if you raise over £150 including the registration fee.

There will be a prize for the highest individual sponsorship achieved.
