THE cast of “Echoes of Wartime” interrupted rehearsals on Saturday morning (October 6) to perform excerpts from their forthcoming show at Crediton’s Farmers’ market.
“Echoes” is a theatre production, involving drama, dance and original music, created by a team of professional German and English actors.
It is based on true stories about ordinary people living in Crediton and Fulda, in Germany, during World War One.
The actors, dressed in World War One costumes, mingled and interacted with shoppers at the busy bi-monthly market.
They also performed songs from the show.
They were joined by local students from QE School, members of the show’s dance chorus.
The event provided a visually colourful and exciting glimpse of this most unusual World War One commemoration, which focuses on the shared experiences of ordinary English and German people during an extraordinary time. The actors will speak in English and German.
The show will be performed at Crediton Congregational Church this week, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, October 11, 12 and 13. The cast will then travel to Fulda and perform it there on October 19 and 20.
