A CAR reversed into a pole carrying many electrical cables in Searle Street, Crediton, just before 1pm today, Thursday, June 27, which has resulted in the closure of the road.

Electricity supplies in the area flickered at many homes and businesses in the area and sparks were said to be flying from the pole immediately after the incident.

Crediton Police have closed the road and firefighters from Exeter are also in attendance.

It is believed that National Grid are to attend to make the area safe.

It is expected that power might have to be cut to enable works to take place.
