CREDITON and District Community Transport Association, which provides safe, affordable door-to-door transport for vulnerable people, such as the elderly, disabled and isolated people in the rural parishes of Mid Devon is looking for a new location to store its vehicles.
A spokesperson for CADCTA, which works under Tiverton and District Community Transport Association’s umbrella, explains: “We have been based at the Crediton Town Council offices for the past two years, where we run our various transport schemes from, including a Ring and Ride Service, Passenger Club, Wheelchair Accessible Transport and Voluntary Car Scheme.
“At the moment we have two wheelchair accessible vehicles, a 15-seater minibus and a smaller six-seater wheelchair accessible car. These are used daily to carry out various transport journeys that help the local elderly, disabled, vulnerable and isolated community around Crediton.
“We transport passengers to important hospital/doctor appointments, day care, various days out, lunch clubs and generally just to socialise and improve people’s quality of life and independence.
“For more than 10 years our vehicles have been stored at Crediton Hospital and for this we are very grateful, however in two weeks’ time we have an additional 15-seater minibus arriving, and with limited parking space at the hospital we feel we need to find a new location to store our vehicles.
“We normally operate the vehicles from Monday-to-Friday, with the occasional evenings and weekends, so it would mainly mean them being stored overnight.
“Ideally we would like to find a venue where all three vehicles could be kept together, but understand this may not be possible as space may be an issue, so would be willing to split them if we needed to.
“As we are a charity we are really hoping a company/organisation will help and work together with us. In return we would place an A6 advert in our quarterly Newsletter, of which 5,000 copies are distributed throughout the whole of the Mid Devon area and we would also give thanks to the company through press releases with the local newspapers.”
Any business or organisation willing to help is asked to please telephone Sarah on 01363 773303.
