DUE to Covid lockdown, the usual Bonfire and Fireworks could not be held in Cheriton Fitzpaine.
The Brownies parade for the Remembrance Sunday Service in St Matthew’s Church was also unable to take place.
However, the Brownie leaders thought up a fun, but thoughtful evening for them.
Fireworks were concocted out of paper and card, before the girls settled down to a more thoughtful time, when they painted poppies onto stones to be placed around the village.
Mary Nunn showed the Brownies her Nursing Veil she wore in the Queen Alexandra’s Royal Nursing Corps (QARANC) and told them about the way it would have been worn in the First World War to protect the nurses’ hair from lice on the uniforms of the injured soldiers brought straight from the battlefield.
