TOPPING the prize for the most unusual way to arrive at a school end-of-term Summer Ball must go to a small group of students from Crediton's Queen Elizabeth's School who arrived in a British Transport Police vehicle, complete with sirens and blue lights!

The Year 11 students celebrated the end of their year at their Summer Ball, hosted by Exeter Golf and Country Club.

The event, held on Saturday, July 8, was well attended by students and staff and the modes of travel were spectacular for many.

Some arrived in vintage cars or sports cars, some in Massey Ferguson tractors and there was even one on a motorbike.

However, it was those in the British Transport Police vehicle which received the most applause after the initial shock!

All of the students attending the Ball looked very stylish.

They enjoyed gathering and sharing in the excitement of the arrivals of friends, complimenting each other on their choices of attire and catching up after having completed exams back in June.

The evening celebrated individuals and the year group as a whole, marking, for some, the end to their QE journey (though a number are remaining at QE for Sixth Form), but for all marked success in navigating a challenging five years including the pandemic.

Dulcie Oliver, Head of Year 11 said: "It was wonderful to see all the students arrive and relish in the opportunity to get dressed up to mark the end of Year 11 in style."
