PUPILS at Bow Community Primary School dressed up as their favourite fictional characters for World Book Day on Thursday, March 6.

Children took part in a “catwalk” in the hall to show off their costumes to the rest of the school and later enjoyed other book-related activities such as designing their own front covers.

Characters pupils and staff were dressed as included an elf from The Lord of the Rings, princesses, mermaids, superheroes, Wally from Where’s Wally?, the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland, Minions from the Despicable Me films and more.

Headteacher Clare Wilmott said: “In our recent Ofsted inspection we were recognised as having a love of reading and it's embedded in the school.

“We think children’s literacy is extremely important.”
