THERE is a rare opportunity to meet and chat with a film and television animator at the next of the Friday evening Warm Winter events hosted in Crediton Library tomorrow, Friday, January 5 at 7pm.
Ashley Thorpe created the titles for the BBC TV series Uncanny, Netflix feature Borley Rectory starring Reece Shearsmith and many other pieces. He is also an academy tutor for the British Film Institute.
Ashley will be discussing his work as an animator and there will be a chance to ask questions. There’s also going to be a special screening of one of Ashley’s early short films, “The Hairy Hands”, based on the Dartmoor legend.
The event is completely free and free refreshments will be available too. If possible, please book a place in the library, by telephone on 01363 772578 or by email: [email protected] .
Warm Winter events at Crediton Library take place almost every week until the end of March, and are completely free, thanks to a grant from the National Grid Community Matters Fund.
They are organised by The Folklore Library and Archive. Call into the library and pick up a free programme which lists all of the event details, and reserve a place for any you want to attend.
Some, including a harp recital and other music performances, are likely to fill quickly.
The next event after Ashley Thorpe will be on Friday, January 19, when author and editor Johnny Mains will be visiting to discuss the books that he has edited for British Library publishing. More details in the next Courier or at the library.
