LOCALS in Spreyton have removed a large amount of fly-tipped rubbish from the River Troney which appears to be equipment for growing cannabis.

One of those who helped clean up the river, who did not want to be named, told the Courier the group found dozens of containers of hydroponics fertilisers and that it looked like “the entire contents of a cannabis farm”.

The waste was first seen by a passing driver who shared a video of it on Facebook on Monday, December 30.

A handful of people from the village decided they would remove it the same day before forecasted bad weather washed it away.

It took them almost three hours to extract the rubbish.
