ACCORDING to Christine Harrington from Callington in Cornwall, “Anything Goes” which was the title for her demonstration at Crediton Flower Club’s July meeting.

Throughout her demonstration Christine did just that! She entertained her audience with an inspired demonstration producing stunning arrangements based on her chosen theme, and skilfully created a kaleidoscope of colours and textures with the use of innovative and contrasting containers, plant material and beautiful flowers.

To begin Christine used red roses, cream lisianthus and pittosporum to create a lovely table arrangement.

This was followed with a modern design and quite a dramatic effect was achieved with lime green (woodpecker) gladioli arranged in a dark green glass vase. Very contemporary and very striking!

A really lovely arrangement came next which Christine described as a “deluxe” hedgerow. The contrasting colours of pink roses, crimson antirrhinums, astilbe, solidago and pine arranged horizontally on a wooden base produced a beautiful display.

Then came a brilliant interpretation of a visit to Malaysia. Large green anthuriums, cocosmia leaves and vibrant orange dahlias placed on a flat bamboo base surrounded with fairy lights set the scene.

For the finale, a brilliant idea for a special present. A large fabric coloured box was used as a base for a very pretty arrangement of cream lisianthus, white stocks, white peonies, pink roses and mauve sweet peas.

This was joined by a smaller twin arranged earlier.

A lovely evening. Mary Tasker gave a vote of thanks.

There will be no meeting in August but there will be an Open Meeting on Thursday, September 14 commencing at 7.30pm at Sandford Parish Hall which will be a demonstration by Sarah Pepper entitled “Autumn Mellow”.

Cost is £10 including light refreshments (members £5) payable on the door. Please come and bring friends.
