CHULMLEIGH College’s 2023 GCSE results speak for themselves; yet another triumph for the children and their families.
Overwhelmingly, pupils have worked extremely hard over the last five years and deserve their incredible achievements.
The pupils achieved 0.6 of a grade higher than the national average, per subject, based on their starting levels in secondary school.
A total of 61 per cent gained the very demanding EBacc standard.
A total of 84 per cent passed English and Maths and 26 per cent of all grades were the very high 7-9.
Sophie, Alicia, Ben and Ben M were delighted with their results today. Sophie achieved the grades she needed to go on to Exeter Maths School to study, Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry; Alicia was delighted to get 7s for both English Language and Literature, and a 9 in History and will be studying A Levels in Photography, French and Textiles; Ben will be studying Aerospace Engineering, and was over the moon with his 8 for English Literature, and Ben M was thrilled with all of his results, particularly the 6 in English, after struggling with mock exams earlier in the year – he will be studying Sport and Fitness.
Executive Headteacher Michael Johnson said, “We would like to thank the more than 20 primary schools who provided us with such a wonderful year group.
“I would like to particularly thank colleagues, directors, and parents for working without pause and stepping up to the mark.
“Yes, it was a tough year, but when the going got tough, you certainly got going.
“You all lived up to our values of ‘Compassion, Ambition and Teamwork’, and I thank everyone for backing our pupils so strongly to achieve this”.
