A QUIZ Night held in Crediton raised nearly £1,000 for the Christian charity Connect, to raise money for its youth work in the town.

The quiz was held on Saturday, January 14 and 13 teams took part.

Dave Poulson, youth pastor of Crediton Congregational Church, was quiz master.

Wendy Anez, chair for Crediton Connect organised the event along with her team made up of volunteers from the local churches which support Connect.

She described the just under £1,000 raised as "a fantastic amount".

She continued: "We had held three quizzes at the Boniface Centre prior to Covid and then for two years our quizzes were on zoom due to the Covid restrictions so it was great to be back in-person again after the two year gap.

"There was lots of positive feedback about the good vibe, excellent quiz and delicious pasties."

Connect supports students in secondary schools, in this case Queen Elizabeth's, by helping teachers on lessons, supporting school events, mentoring, providing lunch time drop-in games clubs and discussion groups as well as taking young people to bigger events and sometimes camps.

Connect seeks to support young people alongside them as they navigate their teen years.

Wendy added: "School staff are grateful and appreciate the additional support Connect brings to school life.

"We hope to hold a sponsored 24-hour bike ride on static bikes at the end of the school year to raise a little more money for Connect and the great work that it does."
