AGE Concern Crediton, the independent local charity supporting the elderly in Crediton and the surrounding district, has received a large windfall, courtesy of the Crash Box and Classic Car Club, a local multi-make classic car club with a wide variety of vehicles in the ownership of its members.

Each summer for the past 64 years, the club has mounted a vintage vehicle gathering in the estate grounds of Powderham Castle, attended by club members and others who exhibit and demonstrate their wonderful historic vehicles, ranging from motor cycles through to steam engines and large commercial vehicles.

The event is probably the largest of its kind in the South West and, unsurprisingly, attracts thousands of visitors for the weekend, which this year enjoyed non-stop sunshine at the unique, picturesque setting within an ancient deer park beside the Exe estuary, just south of Exeter.
