POLICE are appealing for witnesses of an attempted robbery in Torrington.
Three teenage boys reportedly approached the victim from behind while he was walking on a path near Torrington Methodist Church between 4pm and 4.15pm on Thursday, February 27.
They assaulted him and tried to steal his bag and phone but were not successful.
The teenagers are described as wearing dark or black tops and trousers, possibly tracksuits, and dark or black shoes.
“The suspects may have spent a short time sat on a nearby bench together immediately after the incident,” a Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said.
