THE new West Devon Sector Inspector has been announced as Nathan Walker who will lead the local neighbourhood police teams for Okehampton, Tavistock and surrounding areas.
Nathan joined Devon and Cornwall Police in 2005, lives locally and brings nearly 20 years of policing experience with him.
He has previously worked as part of the West Devon neighbourhood police team and was the previous North and West Devon community safety sergeant, with responsibilities for managing youth Intervention, responses to anti-social behaviour and partnership work across the area.
He explained: “I am very proud to be taking on the role of Sector Inspector for West Devon and to be leading the neighbourhood team.
“West Devon is my home so I really care about the area and people’s experience of policing here.
“I am looking forward to working with the many contacts I already have in the area but will be working hard to meet new people in our community.
“West Devon is a great place to live and work and our team will be out in our community, discussing local issues and working towards solving the concerns and queries of the people that live here. Our community policing team has a wealth of experience to serve the area and with a new public enquiry office in Okehampton and two new Police Community Support Officers, we have fresh opportunities to engage with our community.”
“I am looking forward to getting out and about, if you see me, please feel free to come over and say hello.”
Nathan also works as part of the Devon and Cornwall Police wellbeing team and owns Bertie, a wellbeing dog, who visit police stations and helps officers and staff with stress management.
This runs alongside the Oscar Kilo national project for police forces which looks after officer and staff health and wellbeing.
For face-to-face contact please remember that Okehampton Police Station on Barton Road has a public enquiry office which is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 3pm. The office is closed on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
