DEVON and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service believe that a digger truck was deliberately set on fire on Cullompton Hill at Bradninch during the early morning of Saturday, January 18.
The service said: “A passing ambulance responding to an incident reported it to us and two fire appliances from Cullompton and Middlemoor were mobilised as a result.
“On arrival of our Cullompton crew Middlemoor were returned en route, as the digger was smaller than originally thought.
“The crew soon had the fire under control with two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using one hose reel jet.”
The Ambulance Service reported the incident at 4.42am.
The Police were requested due to the suspicious ignition and once on scene, the fire crew left duty of care with the police.
