CREDITON firefighters have helped put out a fire in a derelict house in Somerset.

Fire control received several calls about the blaze on Fore Street in Westonzoyland near Bridgwater just after 10pm on Saturday, December 28.

Crews were sent to the scene and found the two-storey derelict detached house “completely engulfed in flames”, the fire service said.

Firefighters successfully extinguished the fire using an aerial ladder platform, three water jets and a water tower.

The building was left “severely affected” and part of it collapsed inwards.

The cause of the fire is unknown and fire investigation officers went back to the scene on Sunday morning.

Eight fire stations from Crediton, Taunton, Bridgwater, Burnham-on-Sea, Glastonbury, Nether Stowey, Street and Martock fought the blaze.
