A MOTORBIKE rider sustained serious injuries in a road traffic collision in Newton St Cyres on Saturday, August 24.

Devon and Cornwall Police attended along with other emergency services after a call to attend at 4.30pm.

In a statement, a police spokesperson said: “The collision involved a motorbike and a car.

“The bike rider, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

 “Devon and Cornwall Police Roads Policing Team, Southwest Ambulance Service and Devon Fire Service attended the scene, where the road was closed for two hours.

“Anyone with information which may assist police is asked to call 101 or report via our website quoting log 702 24/8/24.”

One section of the A377 was closed for some time to accommodate emergency service vehicles, police directing traffic while the vehicles were there.

It is believed that the car was a people carrier-type vehicle.

At the height of the incident there were three fire engines, four ambulances and many police cars in attendance.
