A MAN in his 20s from the Chulmleigh area was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink after a van crashed into a tree on the A377 at Eggesford in the early hours of Monday morning, October 21.
He was also arrested on suspicion of possessing a Class A drug, namely cocaine. He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Police were called to the scene at 2am and the road was reopened just before 6am. Only one vehicle was involved in the collision.
The driver was taken to North Devon District Hospital to be checked over, but no serious injuries were reported.
