FORTY-THREE members and friends of Crediton Town Band sat down to dinner at Downes Crediton Golf Club on Friday evening, March 17 for the Band’s annual dinner.

Special guest was Joe Ward as a “thank you” for all the help Joe has given the Band over the years.

Among the “top table” diners were Paul Evans, the Band’s new President with his wife, Marion. The Band was re-formed in 1984 which means next year will be its 40th anniversary. The original Crediton Town Band was formed in 1851.

Paul was the first President from 1988 for seven years before handing over to Colin Smith, followed by Ted Staite, Gill Ponsford and David Land.

Paul and Marion gave the fine President’s medal that has been worn ever since by each President.

Anyone who might be interested in playing with the band or who would like to learn to play an instrument should contact Eric Parkes on 01363 82878.
