RELAY For Life, a 24-hour team walking event, organised by volunteers, celebrates and commemorates life and raises money to help beat cancer.
The Relay For Life, which raises funds for the charity, Cancer Research UK, has been held at various venues across the country for many years.
The event offers a fantastic opportunity for supporters to join together and fundraise as a team with friends, family or colleagues.
Now, a group of local volunteers are to hold a Relay For Life event in Crediton.
The event will be held on the Rugby Pitch opposite Lords Meadow Leisure Centre and will start at 2pm on Saturday, September 11 and finish at 2pm on Sunday, September 12.
There will be lots of activities and other smaller events going on, throughout the 24 hours.
The organisers say the day will bring together a brilliant selection of local talent and provide entertainment for every age group.
The event chairman is Clare Thierens, who told the Courier: "The committee and myself have been hard at work raising money in order to put on this event.
"You may have seen us in Crediton High Street a few weekends ago; our 'mascot' is a giant yellow banana!
"We will be doing many more fundraising events over the next few weekends, including a Family Quiz Night on Saturday, June 26, from 7pm in Crediton Rugby Club.
"It is £5 per team of four or five people and there are some fantastic prizes up for grabs for first, second and third place, including a VIP ticket to The Big Sheep!
"There are also more fantastic prizes available in the raffle."
She added: "It doesn't have to be a family team; you can enter a group of friends as a team! There will also be refreshments available at night."
If you are interested in entering a quiz team, please call/text Clare on 07854334484, email her on: [email protected]">[email protected], join them on Facebook: Relay Crediton or send your entries (along with the team name) to: Clare Thierens, 2 Demouville Gardens, Sandford, Crediton, Devon, EX17 4LH. The entry money will be collected on the night.

Other officers are Helen Triebel (logistics/team registration chair), Hannah Hewlett (survivorship chair) and Kayleigh Lucas (Candle of Hope chair).
Clare would like to thank everyone who has been involved in this event so far, and hopes to get more support from local businesses and organisations.
She added: "Without the help and support of local people and kind donations, amazing events like this would not be able to go ahead."
